New Media is the new practice of mass media investigation and reporting of events, issues and trends to a broad audience in a timely fashion. Though there are many variations of New Media, the ideal is to inform the intended audience. Along with covering organizations and institutions such as government and business, New Media also covers cultural aspects of society such as arts and entertainment. The field includes editing, digital photography, and documentary. In modern society, especially in UAE, new media have become the chief purveyor of information and opinion about public affairs. The AFU offers Bachelor of New Media to provide the Country with well-educated and skilled graduate that are capable of holding this responsibility in UAE.
The university offers a four-year program in Mass communication - New Media. The main language of instructing courses will be Arabic language. The program is designed to build graduates who are capable to be recruited in Media related jobs in Dubai which are highly demanded in the Emirate. It also provides computer skills that are essential to introduce students to the technological revolution that continually produces fresh information, and help them monitor such breakthroughs on the internet and universities worldwide. The degree is awarded upon successful completion of the new Media courses comprising of 126 credit hours, normally completed in four academic years (8 semesters).
